Sainsburys kindly presented The Little Rays of Sunshine, Bude with a cheque for £500 on Friday, May 22. The former Somerfield store in Bude was recently acquired by Sainsburys and is currently closed for refurbishment and re-branding before reopening as Sainsburys. Glen Johnson, Sainsburys customer service manager, said the supermarket would be supporting several groups and organisations in the community over the coming months. He said: "We want to have a real active role in the community." It might not always be financial support, said Glen, as the store may be able to provide help in other ways. He commented: "We're looking to build up long lasting relationships in the community." Presenting the cheque to the Little Rays of Sunshine, a support group for families who have a child with special needs, Glen said: "From Sainsburys' point of view this charity touched our hearts from the word go. It's got a lot of history and it's very local." Dave Sturt, co-ordinator for the Little Rays of Sunshine, expressed their gratitude to Sainsburys for the grant. He said: "Thank you very much to all of Sainsburys." Dave said the money would be used to pay for

weekly music sessions with the Musical Farmhouse and to pay for a swimming tutor. He said: "This will keep us going for 12 to 15 weeks."
