LAUNCESTON re-elected its mayor for the ensuing year in a colourful and traditional ceremony in the town hall last Thursday. Tributes were paid to the work Cllr Dave Gordon had carried out over the last year, along with his wife, Carole, and he was duly elected to serve another term in the office. Dignitaries and officials led the procession from the Guildhall into the town hall, followed by the mayoral party. Town crier Rob Tremain called upon all present to be upstanding for the National Anthem, played by members of Launceston Town Band. Cllr Paul O'Brien said it was 'an honour' formally to propose the re-election of Cllr Gordon as mayor. "It's a role he has performed with distinction for the past year. We are in the fortunate position of knowing his abilities, which he has demonstrated. "Time without number, he has responded to requests from local organisations, whether it be to provide advice, support or his physical presence at their meeting or function."
