SOME residents of Launceston experienced power outages in the early hours of Thursday morning, December 14.

Properties across Launceston were left without power for over an hour. A spokesperson from Western Power Distribution said: “The incident began at 12.22am and 813 customers were affected. Our team managed to restore the power by 1.38am.

“It is hard to say what would have caused it, but it sounds as though something was on the line — we did have a few branches down because of the weather, which may have fallen on the lines. So I would say it was probably weather related.”
