THE new sewing group in Bude is ‘bobbin’ along nicely.

SEW ’N SEW’s aim is to help those who need a helping hand with their sewing skills, whether new to sewing or a skill long forgotten.

Wendy Day said: “It’s over 40 years since I last did any serious dressmaking and I am not sure how to go about a lot of things now.

“I couldn’t find a suitable sewing class for me locally and so had the idea of a self-help group, pooling our knowledge to solve each other’s problems.

“Enlisting the help of Polly Sim, we started up SEW ’N SEW together just a few weeks ago and now we have several experienced ladies willing to give their time to advise and guide us through our problems.

“Our enthusiastic regulars so far have shortened curtains, resized garments and learnt how to thread a sewing machine. Some are making cushions, and others are in the process of making garments, and we are all learning along the way and thoroughly enjoying the process.”

The group meets at the Parkhouse Centre in Bude every Thursday between 1.30pm and 5pm and the sessions cost £4.
