PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works. Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities. Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Cornwall Council in North Cornwall and Torridge District Council in Torridge.
Launceston closure announced
SOUTH West Water have confirmed that a road in the heart of Launceston is set to be closed for three days in September.
Church Street in Launceston will be subject to the closure for three days starting on September 8.
In a letter to residents and businesses, South West Water said: “We need to carry out essential works to one of our assets located in the above road. So that we can undertake this work safely and efficiently, we’ll need to close from near the Hall to outside 10 Church Street for three days from September 8, 2026. These works will take place between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
“To ensure that disruption to our customers, local businesses and traffic is kept to a minimum, a road diversion will be put in place which has been agreed with the local highway’s authority. Signs will also be placed in the relevant locations to direct the traffic through the diversion.
“Please be assured that the emergency services have been made aware that the road will be closed and in the unlikely event of an emergency, we will work with them to provide access to any affected parties. Local bus companies, schools and refuse collectors have also been notified.”
Road Closures
STRATTON: Union Hill in Stratton will be closed between September 7 and September 9 in order for cabling and desilting works to take place.
The closure will be in place between 8am and 6pm on these dates.
The road affected is Union Hill between the junction with New Road and property known as Pyewell.
Pedestrian and vehicular access will be maintained to properties.
LAUNCESTON: The road from Apple Garth to Medrow and the road from Medrow to the A30 Dual Carriageway to the eastbound to the north west of Two Bridges in Polyphant, Launceston is set to be closed for one day on August 27.
It is to enable cabling works to be undertaken between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
