IT is ‘fantastic news’ that car parking charges in Launceston are not set to rise, a meeting heard last week.

At the meeting of Launceston Town Council, Liberal Democrat Cornwall Councillor for Launceston Central said that the local authority’s transport boss, Cllr Bert Biscoe, ‘was going to increase parking charges’.

Cllr Massey said: “We met with Cllr Biscoe stressing it’s just not acceptable for Launceston — our car parks are massive and well used.

“I’m thrilled to say he’s effectively thrown that out. There will be no parking increases in our town. It’s fantastic news.”
