St Stephens by Launceston Rural Parish have taken delivery of a new radar speed sign to help improve road safety and increase awareness of excess speed around the parish.

The ElanCity Evolis radar speed sign was a significant investment for the rural Parish Council which was made possible with a contribution from Vision Zero, which is a Devon and Cornwall road safety initiative. Vision Zero’s ambition is to cut road deaths and serious injuries to zero by 2040 — and to reduce current numbers by 50 per cent by 2030.

Cllr Jamie Ranson along with their parish clerk, John Conway have sited the speed sensor in Dutson, the aim is to move the unit around the parishes’ roads periodically to increase the effect by reducing traffic speed and ultimately improving road safety.
