A COMMUNITY day was held in Shebbear, to raise awareness of a contentious wind turbine planning application.

Infinergy is the developer behind the plans to install a wind turbine measuring 102 metres (332ft) on land at Alscott Farm, Shebbear.

The Dorset based company will be submitting an application this coming spring. Prior to submission they held an open day yesterday (Wednesday) for the local community to outline their proposal.

Shebbear Parishes Protection Group has been fighting the proposal.

When the 'Post' previously spoke to the group, member Steve Harrup said: "We are talking really big here. The Alscott turbine will dominate the landscape and be clearly visible to much of Shebbear and nearby parishes.

"As a result, the committee has been very busy planning how we will oppose this, once the application goes in."

A councillor session was held between 1pm and 2pm and then doorsof Shebbear Village Hall then opened to the general public.
