WE received a wide variety of entries for October’s Post Photography Competition, and we have selected three worthy winners this month.
Coming out on top for the photography theme for October — ‘Raindrops’ — was Margaret Peters from Whitstone. Her photo of her garden’s beautiful pink kaffir lilies coated in raindrops is a deserving winner, with the delightful pink flowers against the green of the garden.
Other worthy entries included 14-year-old Caitlin Mulvaney’s photo of the raindrops upon the window of her home in Launceston, with a beautiful Cornish sunset beyond. Kathie Deaville’s eye-catching entry depicts a spiderweb weighed down with the raindrops from a recent shower — a very unusual, but beautiful photo, showing just how amazing nature can be.
For November, we are asking for entries for the theme ‘Spooky Nights’.
As darker evenings draw in, and we wake up to gloomy mornings, we are challenging budding photographers to capture the chilling and eerie atmosphere of the time of year. As we prepare for Hallowe’en (today, Thursday), and all things ‘treason and plot’ with Bonfire Night next week, November can feel spine-tinglingly spooky.
So grab your cameras and capture the essence of the season — from Hallowe’en pumpkin lanterns carved at home glowing in the darkness, crackling bonfires, eerie walks and landscapes, to frosted spiderwebs, towering haunted buildings and perhaps even the colours of the sky during a firework display.
Send entries to [email protected] with your details and the title of the photo. To enter via Instagram, post your photo to your page with the ‘Spooky Nights’ hashtag, tag us — @thepostseries — and direct message us some details. Winners of the week to be announced each Friday, with the overall winner of the month being announced at the end of November, winning a spot in our end-of-year calendar and seeing your photo in the paper.
We can’t wait to see all of your spooky entries! Good luck.
