The new Master of Granville Masonic Lodge No.3405, Worshipful Brother Andy Bain, presided over his first lodge meeting on Tuesday, May 17.

The meeting was held at the Masonic hall in Bude and attended by the officers and members of the lodge. The main item of business on the agenda was to conduct the ceremony of ‘passing’ a new member on his second of three steps towards full membership. Andy was assisted by the officers of the lodge with prominent parts being taken by Jeff Green the Senior Deacon and Keith Taylor the Secretary. The teamwork of the newly appointed officers was in evidence and the new member was treated to a very memorable second step in his Masonic career.

Following the formal proceedings reports were received on behalf of the Almoner and from the Charity Steward who thanked the members for their generous charitable donations which had resulted in Granville Lodge being awarded a Vice Patron’s Certificate by the 2024 Festival Appeal. The appeal is in aid of the main national Masonic Charity, the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The Secretary reported on Masonic matters both locally and nationally.

After the meeting the members dined together and Andy thanked everyone for their support in making his first meeting in charge very successful and enjoyable as well as being memorable for the new member. As always the usual Masonic toasts were observed.

The next meeting of the lodge will take place in Bude in Tuesday, June 21. Further information about freemasonry in Cornwall can be obtained by phoning 01872 276191 or emailing [email protected]
