WHEN the Co-op store upgraded its garage forecourt in Western Road, Launceston, the old sign indicating the price of fuel was replaced with one much lower to the ground.
Residents and other motorists noted that this new sign blocked their vision when pulling out into Western Road headed towards the town.
The Woburn Residents’ Association took this matter up with the Co-op’s head office and said ‘despite hitting a brick wall’, they were undeterred and continued to hassle the company.
When Michael, the current manager, was appointed he took up the challenge along with the association.
Lorraine Beale, the association’s hon treasurer, said: “It has taken a long time to resolve this problem but resolved it has been and the Co-op duly replaced the offending sign with one giving much better visibility.”
The association expressed its thanks to Michael for his assistance.
Following a recent litter pick around the estate Michael supplied the volunteers with coffee and can be seen by the sign with some of the residents.
Colin Olver, Co-op area manager, said: “As a community retailer, our aim is to operate at the heart of local life — we welcome feedback from our members and customers as we get closer to what they need and, care about locally. And, the signage was changed earlier this summer.”
