A?COFFEE?morning was held recently at the Gateway Centre in Launceston, organised by a National Citizens Service (NCS) group.

The event — which also included a raffle and tombola — was held to raise funds towards Macmillan cancer charity.

With the money raised, the group used it to buy resources, in the form of teddy bears, to give to the Macmillan cancer centre in Exeter.

The event was well supported, with over £200 being raised.

All items for sale and cakes and refreshments available were either donated or made by the NCS members and their families.

NCS is a once in a lifetime experience for 16-year-olds that helps build confidence and self belief so that you can take on anything in life.

NCS runs a four-week summer programme each year.

This year, the participants spent the first week at a residential at PGL Barton Hall at Torquay. The second week was spent learning various life skills at Exeter University, and the third was based at Launceston College planning their fundraising activities in the final week.

This last week was spent in and around Launceston and the local area, raising money for different causes.
