UPPER Tamar Lake Sailing Club pushed the boat out recently, after hosting their annual RYA Push the Boat Out Day.
Held in conjunction with Tamar Lakes’ open day, this national event, held recently, sees hundreds of sailing clubs and training centres up and down the country offering free or low cost ‘have a go’ sailing taster sessions and open days.
Push the Boat Out Day is all about getting people out on the water locally, and giving them the chance to find out just how easy it is to get involved.
The sailing club adopted a pirate theme for its popular rides in its ‘pirate boats’. It was a real family day, and it is always popular with families with young children.
All the ‘on the water’ activities were fully booked on the day, with 98 people signing up for boat trips.
The weather stayed fair, although the wind was a bit tricky at times, and one pirate boat lost its rudder, which added to the excitement!
For those who would like to try sailing, they are welcome at Upper Tamar Lake anytime, and should contact Mandy Pollard on 01288 381288.
