MP Geoffrey Cox has pledged that he will lodge a personal objection to a proposal to build a wind farm with six huge turbines on the outskirts of the village of St Giles-on-the-Heath, between Holsworthy and Launceston.

The Torridge and West Devon MP said on Friday that he will now oppose every commercial wind farm application in Torridge because they were threatening the local landscape.

He said there were already 60 wind farms approved or in the planning process in Torridge and warned: "We will be threading our way through wind farms before too long.

"I am convinced we are reaching a tipping point and we will suddenly find in two-to-three years that the whole of our landscape has changed.

"It is not an issue any longer just for the people who live within a mile or so; it's an issue for all of us."
