SCOTT Mann MP (Conservative) is seeking to meet with Defra, while a council waits for sign off on its rules and regulations from the Government department.
Recently the Post reported that the Bodmin Moors Commons Council said there were ‘no callouts’ to ponies on the moor over the winter, and says ‘it’s a brighter future for the welfare of ponies on the moor’.
The council said it is waiting for Defra’s legal department to confirm its rules and regulations, although it still has powers under the Control of Horses Act.
A Parliamentary assistant said Scott Mann MP is seeking to meet with Defra, and a Defra spokesperson said: “We support the establishment of Bodmin Commoners Council and are working to progress their rules.”
