LAUNCESTON and North Cornwall Motor Club were at Launceston Show last Thursday.

The Post spoke to competition secretary Mike Wevill.

Mike said: “It’s just a publicity exercise as we’re struggling to get people really.

“People need to know that we exist so we keep doing these things.”

Amongst the motors on show included a 250 trials Greeves motorbike, a MG car from 1934 and homemade car, which is used for road trials.

Mike said: “People are much more interested in the older cars. What we’re trying to say to people here today is that motorsport isn’t necessarily expensive.”

2020 will be a special anniversary.

Mike said: “Next year we’re celebrating 100 years, the museum in town are giving us a room for three months. They’re very enthusiastic.

“We’re going to dig out as much history as we can and put something up from each decade.

“We’re also planning on doing lots more additional events. We usually do eight but we’re going to be ambitious.”
