‘THE future of the Little Red Bus is dire’, Launceston Town Council heard recently, and there was call for more support to save the town from losing the service.
The Little Red Bus, run by Launceston Community Transport Partnership, which was set up ten years ago, provides a ‘dial-a-ride’ community transport service for all ages from villages and hamlets around Launceston that have a poor or non-existent bus service.
The Little Red Bus is also available for private hire with driver, and runs excursions and lunch trips.
At Launceston Town Council’s meeting on Tuesday, April 17, Cllr John Conway said: “The future of the Little Red Bus is dire, not only financially but also from the point of view of people having the vision to take it forwards.
“If anyone has any interest in picking up the baton… please think about it. If something isn’t done soon I fear we will lose this service. Little Red Bus is really looking for support. Please come forward ASAP.”
The Little Red Bus’s annual general meeting will be held at Trethorne Hotel and Golf Club on May 23, starting at 7pm.
