LAUNCESTON Friday Market has made its latest donation to a worthwhile local cause.
Bobby’s Little Angels was started by Andrew and Rebecca Jackson, who live in Launceston, and sadly lost one of their twins at childbirth, in May 2017.
Bobby was born sleeping and the staff at the hospital gave them a box of small items to treasure in his memory. They found this very touching and, perhaps more importantly, it helped them, and Bobby’s siblings, overcome their grief.
They do refer back to their box often, to remember their angel, and realised there is also a need for such items for siblings, as they are also suffering a loss and, in order for them to feel connected to their sibling, they need to feel involved by something as simple as a matching teddy, a key ring or a small brooch.
The couple decided to create memory boxes for those who are experiencing grief, and there have been lots of people involved in making these boxes. They contain some beautiful items donated, or made, by people from the local community.
Andrew and Rebecca decided to start the charity, called Bobby’s Little Angels, to try to help other parents who suffer in the same way – losing a child in a multiple birth. There are more than 3,600 stillbirths every year in the UK, and one in every 200 pregnancies ends in a stillbirth. The memory boxes are a very important part of healing and for making memories in the short time parents are able to spend with their baby or babies. They do not make any profit from these boxes. The boxes are made up of items donated or paid for by charitable donations.
If you wish to help provide any items to go into the boxes, or make a donation, contact them at www.bobbys-little-angels.co.uk/ or by email at [email protected]
Any donation big or small can make a big difference to a family.
Launceston Community Market, which meets every Friday in the Methodist Central Hall and donates all its fundraising to local charities, said it is proud to have helped this very worthwhile organisation, and recently handed over a cheque for £200.
