BUDE RATs (Running and Triathlon) member, Richard Swann-Piper, recently took part in this year’s London Marathon, raising money for the vital charity, Cancer Research UK.

Richard, who lives in Bude, made the decision to take part in the marathon in memory of his father, Ronald Piper, who was also a keen runner, and inspired Richard to take up running.

On Wednesday, June 1, Richard handed over the incredible amount of £1,221.40 that he raised from the marathon to the Bude and District chairman of Cancer Research UK, Ray Shaddick, and committee member for Bude, Shirley Youden.

Richard has expressed his thanks to everyone who sponsored him, and also to the Bude RATs who worked hard to get him a place for the event.
