THE Mousehole Male Voice Choir will visit Launceston on Saturday, March 4, with a concert starting at 7pm in Launceston Central Methodist Church.
Every year the celebrations of Cornwall’s patron saint grow in size and reputation throughout the county and the world. Music and singing are at the core of the events held within the county.
This year will be no exception, with a special ‘Gala Celebration Concert’ taking place the day before St Piran’s Day on Saturday, March 4, in the Launceston Central Methodist Church.
The famous Mousehole Male Voice Choir of more than 60 voices, conducted by their musical director Stephen Lawry, will travel from West Cornwall especially for the occasion. The local Launceston Male Voice Choir will support them in a choral evening, when over 100 choir members will take part.
This will mark the first time that Mousehole, with their special connections to the RNLI and the Penlee Lifeboat, have traveled to Cornwall’s ancient capital to acknowledge the part that Launceston has played in the history of the county.
Both choirs will sing a selection of new traditional pieces from their 2017 repertoires, and will aloso join together to perform some of the best-loved items that mark St Piran’s Day as one of the highlights in the Cornwall calendar.
The Launceston Choir enjoy a friendly association with the Mousehole Choir, which is one of the best choirs in Cornwall and are as close to the sea as Launceston is as far from it.
Tickets for what is hoped to be a ‘memorable evening’ will cost £7. Tickets are already selling fast and can be obtained from David Parrish or the Tourist Information Centre in Launceston. They are also available for purchase from Graham Tucker, call 01566 782201.
