HUNDREDS of people paid a visit to Launceston last Thursday night to see the Christmas lights switch-on by the town’s carnival royalty.
Crowds of people were entertained by the Popchoir, Launceston Town Band and Magic Martin.
Acting chair of Launceston Chamber of Commerce Sue Isslieb said: “The light switch-on was busy — we reckon there were about 500 or 600 people there.
“Thanks to Magic Martin, Popchoir and the town band, and to the chamber volunteers, as well as Glendale, who supplied the Christmas tree, and Terry Grave electrical, who put the lights up.”
The next event in the chamber’s calendar is the town’s late night shopping event, which will take place on Friday, December 4.
