Launceston Town Councillor, Davey Green, has just returned from the Bootcamp Weekend and is now one of the 18 people who will line up for day one of the 2023 Brathay 10in10 in May.

This event is ten consecutive days of completing the Brathay Windermere Marathon starting on Friday, May 12 and finishing on Sunday, May 21.

The 262-mile journey takes place at the stunning Lake District and this will be Davey’s fifth time at this event which is a fundraiser for the Brathay Trust which aims to inspire young people to make positive changes in their life.

Davey, who got into running back in 2003 after losing a card game that saw him have to run the London Marathon, admits it’s an event like no other.

He said: “It is an exhilarating experience to be in an event, alongside top quality athletes, where you see ordinary people accomplishing extraordinary things.”

Davey also enjoys getting out and about in his spare time.

He said: “I like to simply get out there and run.

“I have a made up half marathon to Portgate and back or a full marathon which is from the house to Bridestowe and back. I’m also a CCFA referee and tutor so I like a little runaround on the football pitch too.”

So far, Davey has raised more than £3,500 and you can support his quest by donating at justgiving.com/davey23.
