LAUNCESTON Churches Together and the Foodbank hosted a very positive meeting recently which decided unanimously to create a Money Advice Centre.

This centre will offer free advice to anyone in need and will assist clients to complete benefit application forms, work out realistic budgets, negotiate with creditors and set up debt management plans.

Keith Roberts, chair of Launceston Foodbank and Churches Together, introduced the evening which was a response to the fact that these issues with money had all been highlighted by Foodbank clients.

The speaker was Ian Foot, co-ordinator of Honiton Debt Advice Centre, who not only spoke about the practicalities involved in setting up a centre but also recommended registering with Community Money Advice, an umbrella organisation with a network of advice centres across the country.
