FOLLOWING months of discussions, site meetings, and committee meetings, North Cornwall District Council's Planning and Development Committee approved Tesco's application to extend their Launceston store at their meeting on Tuesday, February 26. The application — submitted by Tesco Stores Limited — for the erection of an extension to the existing retail store together with a car park extension, alterations and ancillary works was deferred by the committee at their December meeting to enable further information to be provided. Members' concerns regarding access were addressed with the case officer, Simon King, stating that "the changes to the filling station access arrangements are felt will address the congestion caused at the entrance."
