A GROUP of local students enjoyed a unique trip to the capital as they had a sleepover on the HMS Belfast.
The Year 5 class from St Stephens Community Academy went on an adventure recently as they ventured to London. Their city adventure began with sunshine and sightseeing in beautiful Kensington Gardens, followed by hands-on discovery at the National Science Museum.
The excitement continued as they boarded their unique overnight accommodation — HMS Belfast. After exploring the historic Royal Navy warship and enjoying a magical night time walk along the Thames, after dinner in a restaurant, the children settled in for a memorable "kip on a ship."
Day two brought more sunshine and smiles, with a scenic river cruise, stunning views from the London Eye, and a walk along the vibrant South Bank. The adventure wrapped up with an inspiring visit to the Houses of Parliament, including a special workshop on leadership and communication.
Mrs Furber, executive headteacher at the school said: “A huge thank you to our wonderful staff for making this enrichment trip possible — and to our amazing Year 5 children for making every moment count.
“We are immensely proud of how the children conducted themselves throughout the whole visit. Their good manners and behaviour were noted at every event they attended by members of the public, even during their comfort breaks at service stations! They were excellent ambassadors for our school community.”
