TWO representatives of Launceston have been shortlisted amongst the 31 talented graduate nominees for tomorrow's (Friday) Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP) bi-annual 'Celebration Event'.

Held at The Keay Theatre in St Austell, the awards will also recognise the achievements of 160 graduates who have completed a UCP project with a Cornish business in the past eight months.

Ben Nurse of Summit Computer Recruitment Consultancy will appear in the 'Contribution to Business Growth' category, whilst Miles Davey of Summit Sustainable will contest the 'Contribution to Environmental Sustainability' award — both of Launceston.

UCP is a Combined Universities in Cornwall programme, managed by Cornwall College and receives ESF (European Social Fund) Convergence investment. The programme matches talented graduates with innovative Cornish businesses looking to grow, in order to fuel economic prosperity in the county.

The nominated graduates have all excelled in particular and have completed outstanding projects. Notable successes include one graduate who increased turnover four-fold; another whose company grew by 37 per cent as a direct result of the marketing project, and in one instance a graduate saved their company 81,000 working hours.
