Launceston Post Office closed on Monday, March 30 for self-isolation precautionary measure due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The branch had been open reduced hours up until then.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to inform Launceston residents and the wider community that their Post Office has temporarily closed due to staffing issues related to the Covid-19 pandemic and the need for self-isolation. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this temporary closure as we know how important Post Offices are to the community.”

Sally Meredith of Freckles Pet Goodies has volunteered to host the British gas top-up machine in her store, taking over from Launceston Post Office. Top-ups will only be available from between 12.30pm and 2pm at her store on Westgate Street, from Monday to Friday and must be paid in cash.

A spokesperson from the Launceston Post Office said: “Please treat Sally with the upmost respect when in her shop, she has the right to refuse service and will not accept any abuse. She cannot help with any other PO transactions as she is not fully trained.”
