LAUNCESTON man George Kirby celebrated his 100th birthday at his home in Manaton Court on Tuesday, June 26. Joined by family and friends, it was the second event held commemorating his century, following a party held at his son and daughter-in-law's Langham Hotel in Eastborne.

George and his wife Doreen had been holidaying in Eastborne, where many of his family, including his five sons and one daughter, could gather. A further 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren gave their affections to a much loved family man.
