VAL Hoadley, Marie Curie Volunteer Organiser for the Launceston area, has been appointed Volunteer Community Ambassador for the area — the first Marie Curie Community Ambassador to be appointed in Cornwall.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is well aware that as they are becoming better known, the demand for their services is growing and as our population ages, it will continue to do so.
However, at the same time, because of the current difficult economic situation, it is becoming harder to increase funding to meet this demand.
It urgently needs more volunteers to help with this work and thus enable them to continue to provide the best possible end of life care for those who need it.
Val is fully committed to this work, having received support from Marie Curie nurses during the final days of her husband's life.
"The work Marie Curie does is beyond price," she said. "We all want the best for our loved ones when they reach the end f their lies and that is what Marie Curie provides — care of the highest possible standard, at home whenever possible and for those for whom it is not possible then hospice care."
