WHEN four local boys saw the tragedy unfolding in East Africa, they resolved that they must do something to help. Year 10 pupils at Launceston College, Alex Horsington, Austen Dyer, Tristan Parsons and Sam Bunn, will take on the challenge of cycling off road for 24 hours continuously to raise money for UNICEF.
All four members were touched when they first saw the news of the current drought and famine in East Africa. Tristan Parsons said: "We all thought we couldn't sit back and do nothing."
The event took place on the August 31 at 10am. They cycled in 30-minute shifts, finishing on the September 1 at 10am.
Sam said before the event: " I know we will feel terrible by the end of the 24 hours, but we are determined to finish."
They would love readers to donate to UNICEF through the donation web address: http://www.justgiving.com/24-hour-cycle">www.justgiving.com/24-hour-cycle or contact Tristan on 01566 780404.
