A LAUNCESTON College student recently reached the finals of Poetry by Heart, a national poetry recital competition, and is bringing her new passion back to the community.
Fifteen-year-old Georgia Harvey said she "didn't quite realise how grand the competition was" and recalled the humble beginnings of her journey,
She entered her English class and "groaned like everyone else" when they were introduced to the poetry assessment topic. They were told to go away and learn the poem 'Ozymandias' by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
At her next lesson, Georgia found that she was the only one to have memorised the poem, but still, did not think much more on the matter until later, when her teacher Mr Maywood came and suggested the competition.
