THE initial carnival meeting will take place today (Friday, January 15) at 7pm in the Town Hall's Committee room, with the intention to see if there is sufficient interest in re-starting the once popular annual event. Dave Gordon, who called the meeting, told the 'Post': "Since I made the idea, of re-starting the carnival, public, I have had a lot of feedback from people and businesses alike.
"Friday's meeting is designed to see if there is interest from a handful of people to step forward and make the carnival happen. With the enquiries I have made, I am confident that this can happen, but it will take real commitment by those that do step forward."
He continued: "Launceston enjoyed an annual carnival for many years, I and many other people of the town would like to see it return."
