FILMS Launceston in the Community (FLIC) is jointly hosting two films at the beginning of January and February with Lewannick Community Cinema.

As usual the showings will be held in Launceston Town Hall with ‘Sweet Bean’ being shown tomorrow night while ‘Bridge of Spies’ will be played on Friday, February 3.

Sweet Bean is a PG film, where the manager of a pancake stall meets an elderly woman looking for work.

A taste of her homemade bean jelly convinces him to hire her, which starts a relationship that is about more than just street food. (In Japanese with English subtitles).

February’s film, ‘Bridge of Spies’ is rated as a 12A.

Based on the true story of James Donovan, a Brooklyn lawyer, who finds himself thrust into the centre of the Cold War, the CIA sends him on the near-impossible task of negotiating the release of Gary Powers, an American U-2 pilot, shot down and held captive in the USSR.

Tickets for both films cost £5 for adults and £4 for concessions and are available on the door, at Launceston Tourist Information Centre, online at the Cornish Riviera Box Office via crbo.co.uk/flic or by phone on 01726 879500.
