LAUNCESTON and Callington Ploughing Association recently held its 41st annual ploughing match at Trevallet Farm, near Launceston.
By kind permission of Messrs R and A Jones, approximately 50 ploughmen took part in the event under autumn sunshine, showing a high standard of work in excellent soil conditions.
There was an excellent public attendance and C and G Catering provided food on site, catering for everyone’s needs. A vintage display of working the land was also put on by the East Cornwall Machinery Group.
As the prize presentations commenced, chairman Andrew Medland welcomed everyone and thanked the Jones family for their help and for offering such a first class site.
Mr Medland also voice his thanks to the many local people, businesses and sponsors who, once again, showed their support, without which the match could not continue.
Many of the local society members did well in a total of eleven classes. Match champion of the day was Francis Grose from Penzance.
