THERE were a lot of disappointed faces at this year’s Delabole Carnival Marquee, with Johnny Cowling’s news that he will no longer be returning for his fun filled evening at the Delabole Carnival stage.

Over the last 12 years, Johnny has attracted crowds travelling as far as St Austell, Altarnun and Bude to go along and see his entertainment.

On the evening of Tuesday, July 12, yet again Johnny was surrounded by an enormous audience and had everyone in the carnival spirit.

However, he dropped the bombshell that this year would be his last.

He later told the Post: “The time had come to call it a day after many years of putting on a great show and entertainment in the village.”

Andrew Stacey, Delabole Carnival chairman, thinks it will be a lot of hard work to fill the gap since Johnny’s exit, but the committee will work hard to ensure that another act will be found.
