For 23 years Christine Williams was the Holsworthy and Bude correspondent of the Post, but has now put pen to paper for her very own book.

When Covid came and news dried up she decided to spend her time writing a book about her life, which has just been published.

Entitled ‘Becoming Christine’ it is a deeply personal at times moving story of a Cornish woman.

It tells of her work as a teacher, a journalist, her volunteer work with the elderly as well as her worldwide travel and her passion for the theatre and music.

Born a boy it relates her battle to become herself and deals with the causes for which she still fights, in particular for a better understanding of transgender people and of the interests of transgender children.

It also reflects some of the main events in Holsworthy and Bude during the past 20 years.

The book is now on sale in Bude price £10 at Spenser Thorn bookshop, at the Crescent Post Office or from Christine. Any profits from its sale will go to Cancer Research.
