Thanks have been extended to a number of people and organisations for donations of equipment and venues following an appeal by the East Cornwall Primary Care Network.

Joan Heaton, chair of the Launceston Medical Centre Patient Participation Group, said there had been a good response to the appeal, adding: “The community has been superb in its generosity.”

Pat Orridge of The Orchard Centre in Launceston offered the premises, as did Launceston Rugby Club who offered its facilities for emergency use by the NHS/Launceston Medical Centre. The new owners of the Kensey site on Pennygillam have offered the premises to the NHS.

Bridge Tools offered large supplies of cleaning agents and goggles; Steven Ryan of SR Motoring donated boxes of disposable gloves, and Dawn Rogers and Hayley Aldridge have donated disposable gloves, aprons and shoe covers from personal supplies.

Local vet, Nigel Hicks and his wife, Sara Fell Hicks, co-founders of Orangutan Veterinary Aid (OVAID), donated a large bag of cleaning fluids, disposable gloves and more.

Pam Parnell of the Launceston Hospital League of Friends donated £500 to Launceston Medical Centre for essential PPE to keep health workers safe.
