Since January 4 there have been 49 new cases of COVID in Launceston, totalling to 145 positive cases
Today (January 7) in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, there has been 1,339 cases of COVID reported and 1 deaths (within 28 days of a positive test).
In the UK today, there has been 179,756 cases reported and 231 deaths (within 28 days of a positive test).

Pharmacies in Cornwall are helping to ease the strain on the NHS by offering their services. Pharmacy’s all over the county are delivering ‘face-to-face’ assessments designed to treat a wide range of minor ailments and common illnesses without an appointment. After patient’s have been seen in a consultation room, they are still directed to NHS treatment if needed.
An effective trial was conducted over Christmas where more than 90% of users had symptoms treated on site, health bosses said.
The service is set to run from January 6 until the end of March, with records of the consultations sent electronically to each patient’s GP.
