A SPECTACULAR rock formation near Bude has been revealed as one of the top 100 geological sites in the UK and Ireland.

As part of Earth Science Week the Geological Society in London celebrated geo-heritage by launching a list of 100 Great Geosites.

The sites were broken down into ten categories, including places of educational or industrial interest. Other categories included landscape, coastal and outcrops.

The list also includes ten 'people's favourites'.
