Margaret Brimacombe returned in goal for Launceston and was at her usual committed best, and could do nothing to stop any of the goals, writes Liam Dart.
In the opening 20 minutes the contest was even with the Launceston girls working their socks off. However, on 21 minutes a lapse in concentration led to neat inter-play and the Weymouth striker finished neatly from 12 yards. Ten minutes later Weymouth doubled their lead. Following a series of blocks from a corner the ball came loose to the Weymouth striker and she smashed home.
At the other end Fiona Stevenson shot just wide as did Ria Tilley who had an excellent game.
In the second half Launceston came flying out of the traps Vicky Pett, Haines and Julie O'keefe went close. From a corner a goalmouth scramble led to Tilley dragging wide. Sub Kelly Henderson went close on two occasions only to see her strikes blocked by her own team-mates, Pett also had a shot blocked by a team mate.
Against the run of play Weymouth broke in the last 15 minutes and scored a third which Brimacombe did well to get a hand to but unfortunately couldn't keep out. Minutes later Weymouth broke again but Brimacombe made an excellent double save to deny the striker. At the other Henderson had another strike blocked and Ali Tilley set up Haines but she shot wide.
Alex Harris returned and did well following five months out through modelling and performing Arts commitments.
The commitment, effort, attitude and desire was brilliant by Launceston but inability to take chances and a lack of concentration led to defeat but the result didn't reflect the game. Next week Launceston face top of the table Truro away!
