EGGS from German farms where animal feed was contaminated by dioxins have been used in some items produced by Launceston firm, Kensey Foods. But the company, and the Food Standards Agency, has said there is no food safety risk from eating the products.

Kensey Foods, part of Samworth Brothers who also own Ginsters Pasties, have had their short life quiches and cakes taken off display by stores.

The scare is not specific to North Cornwall; thousands of goods sold in British supermarkets over Christmas are thought to contain eggs contaminated by dioxins, according to recent reports.
