THE fourth annual fundraising event for Diabetes UK, this year called 'Walk the Extra Mile', was held on June 28 at the Royal Cornwall Showground.
The three mile walk was attended by an estimated seventy walkers and raised around £1,800 for the
charity.
The event was short on sunshine, but not on spirit and was described as being a great success.
SKYD (Supporting Kernow Young Diabetics) helped cater at the event and organised a 'well supported barbecue' and the money raised from this went to SKYD.
The event organiser, Phil Duke of Ladycross, Launceston, gave his thanks all who made the event a success, his brothers Geoff and Ray for cooking the barbecue and the other helpers who all gave up their time willingly to help run the event.
A special thanks also goes to the walkers who attended the event and who helped raise money for the charity.
Diabetes UK is one of the largest patient organisations in Europe, and helps those with Diabetes and tries to improve the lives of people the condition affects.
