The residents of Launceston could step back in time on Saturday as medieval knights, craftspeople and storytellers came to town.
Rob Tremain, Town Crier, started proceedings in the square on a bright and warm morning and led a procession, including knights, earls and peasants around the town and down to the Castle Green, much to the amusement of many on-lookers.
Entertainments throughout the day were enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Battles and living history demonstrations by local re-enactment group Kernow Levy took place on the Castle Green, whilst in the square, storyteller Dave Oliver wowed the younger audience with his talking rat 'Rastas' and many traditional stories. Local volunteers also got a soaking in the stocks!
The event was held by the Launceston Town Square Events Team and was grant aided by the Launceston Forum and the Cornwall Community Foundation.
Group Chair Lorna Lane said: "We are particularly pleased that we have secured funding to help us with such events. The group was formed to provide events for all our community and it is especially good that we are being helped by local grant organisations to help promote the town. We are also pleased to have worked with English Heritage to utilise the town centre's two community spaces.
"The day went especially well and we could not have asked for better weather. There were lots of happy faces from all those involved and spectators alike. I would like to thank everyone who helped on the day and would urge more people to get involved!"
