OLDER people are being invited to dip their toes in the waters of the World Wide Web on Silver Surfers Day (Friday May 15.)
McCarthy & Stone is hosting a day of internet workshops at its Manaton Court retirement development in Dunheved Road, Launceston, with specialist tutors from IT Company Digital Unite.
The free tutoring sessions are open to residents and visitors and will last for 50 minutes. The first starts at 10.30am and the day will finish between 4pm and 4.30pm. Places at each session are limited to four, so advance booking on the sales office number below is essential.
Manaton Court sales consultant Steve Whitman said: "Some of our residents here are computer literate but would like to learn more, whereas others are complete beginners. The participants in the tutoring sessions will be grouped according to experience and the Digital Unite staff are specially trained to work with older people.
"Everyone is welcome and there will also be the chance to meet the residents of Manaton Court and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the communal lounge."
Manaton Court is development of apartments by McCarthy & Stone, specially designed for older people who want to lead independent lives but need a supportive environment.
To book a place at the Silver Surfers' Day or to arrange a viewing of Manaton Court, please call the sales office on 01566 770790.
