PETER Moores has been elected as mayor of Bude and Stratton, writes David Sillifant.

At the May 18 meeting of the town council, Cllr Moores edged out the previous mayor, Cllr Lea Deely by six votes to five.

Cllr Deely went on to be elected as deputy mayor.

Cllr Moores thanked Cllr Deely for her efforts, including her work on the neighbourhood plan.

Cllr Moores has previously served as town mayor and he was delighted to be back in the role, saying: “I’m delighted to have been re-elected as mayor of Bude and I look forward to once again being able to serve the community and people of this great town.”
