VISITORS to Bude’s Summerleaze Beach were treated to some surprise entertainment on Saturday when more than 60 people took part in a Bokwa (African dance workout) ‘flash mob’.

The flash mob followed a four-hour session of Bokwa at Budehaven’s John Ward Hall.

The session was run by Neil Coates, known as Bokwa BEST (Bokwa Education Specialist Trainer), who is based in Wales and well known in the Bokwa field.

It was organised by David Herman, owner of Fusion Fitness in Bude, and Penny ‘BokwaBling’ Wilson.

Penny said: “It was amazing, absolutely amazing. It was the best day ever.”

The event was well supported and Neil brought Lei Bokwa over from Ireland to take part. Others came from the Forest of Dean, Wales and Redruth as well as from the Bude area.

After the flash mob, a beach barbecue was held, which raised £90 for Benny’s Big Journey Home.

Penny added: “This is the biggest thing that I’ve ever organised. I’m absolutely thrilled to bits. I want to do it again!

“The weather was perfect for the barbecue and everyone was smiling.”

It is hoped that another event will be held in the autumn.
