A TURF-CUTTING ceremony was held on Wednesday afternoon (June 26) to mark the start of work on the construction of Holsworthy's new agri-business centre.

As he symbolically dug a spade into the turf, surrounded by Holsworthy Hamlets and Holsworthy Town Councillors in hard hats and yellow waistcoats Devon County Councillor Barry Parsons said this was a "massive step for Holsworthy".

Cllr Parsons has been at the forefront of the project since its inception four years ago, and was there himself to cut the first turf.

He began by thanking the many people who had worked so hard to bring the project to fruition. Torridge District Council officers, Peter Quincey and Vanessa Saunders, Holsworthy Hamlets and Holsworthy Town Councils, James Morrish, Kivells and the contractors Morgan Sindall.
