THE Launceston branch of the NSPCC was on hand for the Coombe Trenchard Country House Garden Festival on June 2 and 3.

The event was a great success with the NSPCC helping with the children’s event such as pin the tail on the peacock, which is the emblem for the English Garden Festival and a lucky dip.

The NSPCC branch also raised some money by having a draw for a Charlie Bear, donated by the company.

The largest money raiser was not unexpectedly the sale of strawberries and some cream which was donated by Trewithen Dairies.

In total £743.71 was made for the NSPCC.

The second event in June was the ever popular NSPCC luncheon. With over 100 people in attendance it was a fantastic event.

Thanks were expressed to mayor Margaret Young and the regional area manager for the NSPCC, who said a few words about the charity.

Chairman of the Launceston branch of the NSPCC Martin Ryan said: “The food of course was fantastic, all prepared and cooked by our committee, the desserts were to die for.

“We made after expenses a grand total of £1,502.50 — another tremendous effort from all who helped, and not forgetting Homeleigh Garden Centre who provided the flowers.”
