BUDE Coastguard Rescue Team were called out on the weekend to assist paramedics and lifeguards in the recovery of an elderly lady who had been injured on Crooklets Beach, Bude, following a fall.

On Saturday, Bude Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) were paged at 5.18pm and tasked to Crooklets beach, in assisting paramedics and lifeguards, after an 82-year-old lady had slipped and injured herself whilst walking over the rocks.

Using their alpine stretcher, Bude CRT carefully removed the lady from the rocks, and moved her into the land ambulance, but due to the nature of her injuries, paramedics advised that Cornwall Air Ambulance should be called.

Paramedics stabilised the lady, and then Bude CRT carried her on a stretcher to the air ambulance, where she was then flown to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
