IN a game of 'three halves' Saltash got off to a flying start, playing with the advantage of the slope, they came out fast and furious, Launceston were caught napping. The end of the first half, saw a dismal score of 26-0, Launceston only chasing shadows.

Graham Urwin and Dave Mitchell (coaches) must have given an encouraging half time talk. Back on the pitch, and now playing down the slope, the Lions started to play rugby.

Mark Gribble scored the first try after making holes in the Saltash defence. Sam Fox kicked the extra points. The Lions were on a roll now as the forwards dominated. Seb Hockridge scored another try with Sam again converting. This half ended 26-14 to Saltash.

In the third half the Lions had the disadvantage of playing up the slope again, but they were not to be deterred.

The Lions went into overdrive as the backs ran rings around Saltash. A very determined Lloyd Lovell excelled, scoring two tries, one of which was a fantastic individual effort. The forwards and backs were combining well and the Lions played some of their best rugby of the season.

Dom Hosking scored the try of the game — he ran like the wind from deep in his own half and charged across the line to a huge cheer. Sam Fox reliably kicked the conversion.

Man of the Match: Billy Tincombe.

This was an amazing game of rugby. The Lions looked buried at 0-26 but after a come back to end come backs, the Lions never gave up and outplayed and outfought Saltash.
